Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve been hearing some of the same questions, so we’ve written them down.  If this doesn’t answer your question, we want to hear from you.  Please call Mark Garton at 503-831-1408.

Where are games played?

At U09 and below, all games will be played in Keizer.  At U10 and above, about half of the games will be played in Dallas, several more will be played in Keizer, and the rest will require travel to other clubs within about a 30 mile radius (i.e.: Silverton, Stayton, Keizer, Albany, Independence)

When are games played?

League games are played on Saturday.

Do we ever play on Sunday?

League games are not scheduled on Sunday.  On rare occasions a make-up game may be scheduled for Sunday afternoons at a time that is mutually convenient for both teams.  Occasional tournament play may require a game on Sunday.  Tournaments are typically offered after the last regular league game in the season.

What league do we play in?

The Mid Valley Soccer League (MVSL,) which is operated by Keizer Soccer Club and sanctioned by the Oregon Youth Soccer Association.  For more information about the league, visit www.KeizerSoccerClub.Org.

When Does the Season Start and End?

The spring season begins after March 1st with games beginning around April 1st going through the beginning of June.  At U10 and above, playoffs are the second weekend of June.

The fall season begins after August 1st with games beginning the first weekend after Labor Day, ending the beginning of November.
At U10 and above, playoffs are the second weekend of November

Is this “competitive” soccer?

Not completely.  MVSL is described as a “Rec Plus” league, as there is a focus on competition and development not found in the typical recreational programs.  It is ideal for the player who wants to play more soccer and develop beyond the recreational level, but is not interested in the time, travel and financial commitment of higher competitive levels.

Where do we train?

All training session are in Dallas.

How often do we train?

Hopefully, the serious player is getting some touches on the ball every day.  Teams train together 2-3 afternoons per week.  Dallas United follows US Soccer’s best practices which state that there should be a ratio of 2 or 3 practices per one game, and players should be given two days rest per week.

Who will coach my child?

Dallas United selects coaches who have demonstrated a commitment to quality coaching and to continued personal development.  Possession of a USSF F license is a minimum expectation.  Some of our coaches have received their USSF E License as well.

What do I get for my registration fee?

Your registration fee is used to cover league fees, referees, field maintenance, team equipment and player insurance.   Uniforms are extra, and can be worn multiple seasons.  Anything leftover is used to subsidize coach training and build our program.
